Mold: Versatile Small Ball 5
NBA Play Style/statistical comp: Chris Boucher
Thoughts - F/C - Big wing with a quick first step who can attack mismatches from the perimeter. He’s swift on the open floor and scores well in transition. Bursty, vertical athlete with power and great size, but lacks touch. I don’t think finishing through traffic at the NBA level will be a strength for him. With his size and mobility, I believe a small-ball 5-lineup might be the best way to actualize him. He can stretch the floor from the corners and wings, showing some catch-and-shoot value. His release has a bit of a fling to it and comes off as a line drive. The numbers suggest high-volume, high-efficiency shooting, but I’m skeptical. It should be functional and usable as a weapon, but the release and his general lack of touch and feel make me doubt he’ll sustain elite percentages.
A very active player who runs hard and contributes in transition. Not a creator either for himself or others, but can be useful as a handoff initiator, with the ability to keep the ball and drive in a straight line. Defensively, he has versatility. He’s capable of protecting the rim as a weak-side helper and can hold his own on the perimeter in small doses. I wouldn’t trust him guarding in space consistently. I think he’d get exposed there if asked to do it too often. Still, he’s an effective shot blocker with great length who contests everything at the rim. High-level rebounder. He boxes out, seals, gets a hand on loose balls, and high-points rebounds. Oddly wasn’t used much as a roll man, but I think that could be a valuable part of his game, along with pick-and-pop actions, where he should find easy touches.
